Blueberry and sunflower smoothie

23. June 2023

I like a nice filling breakfast packed with nutrients, and this blueberry and sunflower smoothie is one of my favorites. I know intermittent fasting is very popular right now, and it work well for some, but definitely not for everyone.

Breakfast is the fuel that jumpstarts your body’s metabolic engine. After a night of fasting, it replenishes your energy, stabilizes blood sugar levels, and kickstarts your metabolism.

A well-rounded breakfast provides an opportunity to incorporate a variety of essential nutrients into your diet. By including a combination of fruits, vegetables, lean proteins and healthy fats, also what I call a balanced meal, you are sure to give your body with the necessary fuel to function optimally throughout the day. These nutrients provide the building blocks for growth, repair, and maintenance of your body’s tissues, as well as supporting vital functions such as immune health, hormone regulation, and cellular repair.

Embrace the power of a wholesome breakfast and discover the transformative effects it can have on your holistic well-being. Start your day right, and watch as your health and happiness flourish.

Chia seeds

These tiny black seeds are packed with essential nutrients, including fiber, protein, healthy fats, vitamins, and minerals. One of the key health benefits of chia seeds is their ability to promote digestive health.
The high fiber content helps regulate bowel movements, prevent constipation, and promote a healthy gut.

Chia seeds are also rich in omega-3 fatty acids, which are known for their anti-inflammatory properties and their potential to support heart health by reducing cholesterol levels and blood pressure.
Additionally, chia seeds are a great source of antioxidants, which help protect the body against oxidative stress and cell damage. Including chia seeds in your diet may also aid in weight management, as they can help you feel fuller for longer and reduce cravings. Pecan nuts

Pecan nuts offer a wide range of health benefits, making them a nutritious addition to your diet. These delicious nuts are packed with essential nutrients, including healthy fats, fiber, vitamins, and minerals. The high monounsaturated fat content in pecans helps promote heart health by reducing bad cholesterol levels and increasing good cholesterol levels. Additionally, the fiber in pecans aids digestion, supports weight management, and helps maintain stable blood sugar levels. Pecans are also rich in antioxidants, such as vitamin E, which protect the body against oxidative stress and inflammation. Furthermore, the abundance of minerals like magnesium and zinc in pecans contributes to bone health, immune function, and overall well-being. Incorporating pecan nuts into your diet can be a tasty and wholesome way to enhance your health.

For this blueberry and sunflower smoothie you will need:

4 oz of almond milk (or what you like best)
3/4 cup of blueberries (I always use frozen)
a good handful of sunflower microgreens (or broccoli)
1/2 – 1 inch of fresh ginger
1 scoop of protein powder
2 tbsp chia seeds
a handful of pecan nuts

Add almond milk, blueberries, sunflower microgreens, ginger and protein powder to your blender, and blend to the consistence you like.
I prefer this smoothie to be thick.
Pour the smoothie into a breakfast bowel, and add chia seeds and pecans as topping.
